Dieter Aumann addressed
the myth that beginning
the 19th century robbers
have lingered in the forest
around the town of Babenhausen.
He and his wife did a lot
of research in archives
searching for documents
and traces that might be
able to deliver a detailed
picture about the robbers’
crimes in the area around
Babenhausen and especially
on the Ziegelhütte. In the
archive of Karlsruhe they
then discovered a huge amount
of authentic material. Dieter
Aumann narrates the turpitudes,
the prosecution and the
conviction of the Hölzerlips
gang. The robbery at the
German Bergstraße between
the two towns of Hemsbach
and Laudenbach was the key
crime that induced the cross
regional manhunt.
